What is Paverpol?
Sandy Cesselli was born in Kamloops, BC, and has lived in many communities. During her early years she lived on a cattle ranch, a thoroughbred race horse facility, in logging communities, major cities, and in almost forgotten ghost towns between Vancouver Island and Saskatchewan. In 1975 her parents moved the blended family to Barriere and planted their roots for good.
After high school Sandy studied Practical Horticulture, and realized her calling was in the Natural Resource Sector.
Residing in rural Barriere on naturalized property, she works
out of Kamloops, however, her day job keeps her travelling to all corners of British Columbia, allowing her limited opportunity to commit to her art.
Sandy's parents were both recreational artists, her Dad proficient in oils, acrylics, charcoal, ink and pencil, along with amazing wood carving skills. Her Mom graced paper with fun pencil and ink caricatures and cartoons, also being a gifted seamstress.
Along the way some of her parents talent rubbed off on Sandy.
As she grew up, she designed and sewed original clothing and
costumes as a leisure pursuit for a dance company and an 'old time' photography business. she often dabbled in sketch art
which she now turns into greeting cards,
In 2016, Sandy discovered Paverpol and found another artistic outlet. She saw the potential of the medium and took to it immediately, recognizing it was exactly what she sought to move from 2D to 3D. In 2017 Sandy completed the Paverpol Teachers training.
During her personal time, she is often out on back roads and hiking trails with her camera seeking inspiration. Once inspired she can be found working with various mixed media, fibres, metal and wood to create unique pieces while also providing Paverpol workshops in her community.
